Robert has been playing drums for almost his whole life, and enjoys a widely varied working life combining teaching and performing. In 2017, he graduated with the highest results across his entire year from the Jazz Performance degree at the University of Chichester, where he developed his skills with some of the best teachers and drummers in the country.
As a teacher, Robert enjoys sharing his knowledge and passion for the instrument with a variety of students, including young children, teenagers and adults. He strives to push every student individually to reach their own goals, whilst also drawing from his extensive performing experience to ensure lessons are always musically relevant, setting up any weekend warrior or aspiring professional with all the skills they’ll need to go out and share their music with the world.
As a performer, Robert’s experience has been incredibly varied. He recently completed 18 months working with a professional entertainments company performing all their production shows and party sets, whilst often ‘depping out’ to perform with small jazz trios and large big bands. Robert also frequently plays for multiple musical theatre shows which includes the Brighton Pavilion. Robert’s no stranger to the Classical world either and has performed across Europe with symphony orchestras and chamber groups, with repertoire ranging from the classic symphonies to modern, experimental scores.
